I stand by my post on this subject. PPP and Winsock are extra overhead, I
don't care what AOL says. Also, there is a known speed problem with
software flow control. It really depends on the modem & other hardware, as
well as the system installation, but RPI chipsets are a KNOWN problem.
I've teched them myself.
